Professor Conor Clarke Joins WashULaw Faculty

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Conor Clarke, Associate Professor of Law, beginning July 1, 2023. He joins us from the Office of Legal Counsel in the United States Department of Justice, where he served as an in-house lawyer. Through an empirical and historical lens, his scholarship on tax law brings a new perspective to a range of complex concepts. His papers have been published in the Texas Law Review, Yale Law Journal, Yale Policy & Law Review, Yale Journal on Regulation, Stanford Law Review, and more.

“Professor Clarke is a tremendously promising scholar and an excellent addition to our community. We are very pleased he will be joining our faculty,” says Russell K. Osgood, dean of the Law School.

“Professor Clarke offers a rare combination of high-level legal experience and quantitative skills,” says Professor Daniel Epps, chair of the Faculty Appointments Committee. “He is poised to make major contributions to tax law and other fields.”

“I could not be more excited to join the WashULaw faculty, which has incredible support for fiscal and empirical research. The community is also extremely collegial and welcoming,” says Professor Clarke. “My wife and I are also looking forward to exploring the Ozarks further. We once visited on a cross-country trip, and have always wanted to return.”

Professor Clarke earned his JD from Yale Law School in 2015 and BA from Amherst College in 2008. He also studied at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and at the London School of Economics as a Marshall Scholar.
