Joel Christensen

Adjunct Faculty

Joel Christensen is a partner at Behr, McCarter & Potter, P.C. Licensed in Missouri and Illinois, Joel counsels corporate, individual, and municipal clients on a wide range of cases, including commercial, construction, insurance, creditor’s rights, employment, health care, personal injury, professional liability, and real estate matters. Prior to joining Behr, McCarter & Potter, P.C., Joel practiced at a large St. Louis law firm.

Joel earned his B.A., cum laude, in Philosophy and Political Science from Knox College and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law. Joel was named one of Missouri’s Up & Coming Lawyers in 2016 by Missouri Lawyers Weekly® and has been recognized by Super Lawyers® as a 2016 and 2017 Rising Star in business litigation. While in law school, Joel was Editor-in-Chief of the Washington University Journal of Law & Policy and won the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court competition, Washington University’s oldest and largest moot court. He received the faculty’s Mary Collier Hitchcock Prize for outstanding writing and was awarded the Dan Carter-Earl Tedrow Memorial Award, selected by his classmates as the graduating student “exemplifying the aims of all those entering the profession of law.” Joel earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in courses on Mediation & ADR Theory and Practice and Pretrial Practice & Procedure and served as a Teaching Assistant (Legal Writing) and Research Assistant (Labor & Employment). Joel’s publications include Wrong on Red: The Constitutional Case against Red Light Cameras, 32 Wash. U. J.L. & Pol’y 443.

Joel is a member of the Lupus Foundation of America-Heartland Chapter’s Board of Directors, a member of the St. Louis County Bar Association’s Executive Committee, and an adjunct professor at Washington University School of Law, teaching Contracts, Torts, and Legal Writing. He is an Eagle Scout and Shaman in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
