2018 Chicago-Kent College of Law Civil Liberties Prize

Entries are now being accepted for the Chicag0-Kent College of Law/Roy C. Palmer Civil Liberties Prize, a scholarly writing competition that honors an outstanding article or book on a topic exploring the tension between civil liberties and national security in contemporary American society. The winner will receive a cash stipend of $10,000. The article or book must be in draft form or have been published within one year prior to the July 1st deadline for entry. Higbee & Associates and the Foundation for Continuing Justice 2017-18 Student Writing Competition

The Foundation for Continuing Justice and the Law Firm of Higbee & Associates are pleased to announce the second Annual Criminal Record Policy Essay Competition and Scholarship for law students. This inaugural competition will award four cash prizes. The competition is intended to expand the awareness of consequences of criminal records and the laws that govern their retention, dissemination and expungement, as well as to encourage research into the ways to improve related laws. Benson & Bingham Annual Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Benson & Bingham Annual Scholarship. Entrants must submit a 600-word essay, be currently enrolled or recently accepted to an accredited law school, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. One grand prize winner will receive a $2,000 award. Two runner-up prizes in the amount of $250 will also be awarded. Applications must be submitted by August 31st, 2018. Third Annual CALG Law Student Writing Competition

The American Association for Justice Class Action Litigation Group (CALG) invites students to participate in their third annual national law student writing competition. Papers should be original and on any topic associated with class action jurisprudence on the state or federal level. All submissions will be reviewed by a judging committee composed of CALG group members. The winning submission will be published in "Advance," an annual digital compendium of the American Constitution Society. Papers must be received by May 25, 2018 and should be submitted to aajcalg@gmail.com.

The Judge John R. Brown Scholarship Foundation 25th Annual Brown Award

The Judge John R. Brown Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce the twenty-fifth annual Brown Award. The Award is in recognition of Excellence in Legal Writing in American Law Schools. any law student currently enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States seeking a JD is eligible to submit a paper. The awards for 2018 will be as follows: $10,000 - First Place $5,000 - Second Place $3,000 - Third Place $1,000 - Finalist $1,000 - Finalist AND $5,000 to the Scholarship Fund selected by the Dean of the law school in which the First Place candidate is enrolled. In order to be considered, two copies of a current legal writing must be submitted to the foundation along with a letter of recommendation from a law school faculty member or legal professional.
