Hague Intersessional Experts' Meeting - Archived

Convention - June 2009

On June 11-12, 2009, an expanded group of experts, including judges and practitioners from international criminal tribunals operating around the world, gathered at the Hague Intersessional Experts’ Meeting of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative, the second of three major conferences to be convened during the course of the Initiative commenced by the Harris World Law Institute to study the need for, and elements of, a comprehensive convention on crimes against humanity and to draft such a treaty. The meeting was held at the Campus Den Haag of Leiden University and was co-sponsored by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies, the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the City of The Hague. The Initiative is being generously funded by a leadership grant from Steven Cash Nickerson and by the United States Institute of Peace.
