Susan Nell Rowe

2006 Distinguished Young Alumni Award

RoweSusan.jpgA partner in the litigation department of The Stolar Partnership, Susan Nell Rowe, M.S.W. '83, J.D. '83, serves on the firm's Executive Committee.  She has represented a wide variety of clients, including national and regional corporations and local private companies.  Focusing on employment law and general civil litigation, Rowe has represented employers in all employment issues, including the litigation of claims under federal and state employment statutes.  She also has advised clients on the prevention of employment litigation, mediated more than 50 employment discrimination cases, and lectured on employment topics at law symposia.  Rowe has experience in a wide variety of civil litigation, including commercial landlord/tenant disputes, condemnation proceedings, family matters, contract disputes, and general business litigation. 

A member of the Board of Directors of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Inc. (LSEM) since 1992, Rowe has served as its president since 2002.  Her leadership has been instrumental in preserving LSEM as an independent, community-based legal services program.  She also is a member of the School of Law's Alumni Executive Committee and mentor in the School's Mentoring Program.  Rowe received the St. Louis Daily Record's 2003 Woman of the Year Award and LSEM's 2004 Equal Access to Justice Award. 

She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Rowe and her husband, Ross H. Briggs, J.D. '80, have two children, Will and Nell.
