Washington University School of Law initiated the Mel Brown Family Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP I) in January 2002. The purpose of this program is to enable an increased number of our graduates to pursue government or public service careers during a time when rising student debt loads have made this increasingly difficult.

Beginning with the graduating Class of 2010, Washington University Law has adopted a new loan repayment assistance program (LRAP II) that dovetails with the federal government’s Income-Based Repayment and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Programs under the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007. By integrating LRAP II with the Income-Based Repayment (IBR) option and Public Service Loan Forgiveness provided, Washington University Law will provide more substantial coverage for graduates who opt to utilize these repayment options.

LRAP I remains available for graduates of the Classes of 2002-2009 and for graduates of the Classes of 2010 who do not utilize IBR.
