Public Service Advisory Board
The Public Service Advisory Board is a student-led organization that creates and administers public service opportunities for law students. It is responsible for allocating public service funds among student groups, promoting service within the law school and greater St. Louis communities, and planning public service programming. PSAB consists of three committees that work together to create a vibrant set of opportunities for law students to learn about and participate in public service.
Public Service Project
The Public Service Project offers innovative, dedicated, and enthusiastic law students the opportunity to enrich their academic experience by contributing to the growth and development of the larger community. The team is responsible for planning and implementing public service projects of a wide variety. The team plans an alternative spring break, which in the past has taken students to Chicago to work in immigration law. Additionally, they plan projects at law school happy hours, collect for local soup kitchens, and organize the canned food drive and holiday giving tree.
The Education Project coordinates faculty-student roundtables, school-wide brown bag lunches, and educational panels. The team’s goals are to seek out public interest topics often left out of the law curriculum and not covered by other campus organizations. Through discussions between students and faculty, the team works to create opportunities for students to explore careers in the public interest sector. Topics discussed have included civil rights, bioethics, community development, and health care.
Pro Bono Project
The Pro Bono Project strives to serve the community by taking advantage of law students' unique skills and abilities and fostering the growth of a lifelong commitment to public service in the legal profession. The members of the PBP administer the Pro Bono Pledge Program by developing and organizing law-related service opportunities, encouraging participation by their fellow students, monitoring ongoing projects, and recording completed service hours. PBP members build and maintain relationships with other organizations at the university, as well as attorneys, firms, and non-profit organizations in the St. Louis area.
