The Know Your Rights (KYR) workshop is a project created by the American Friends Service Committee BLSA implements this program year round to public high schools. Through the use of role playing and interactive question-answer sessions, the KYR workshop cover search and seizure laws, your rights if arrested or detained, when police can search your home, when you are free to leave a police encounter, what police can do in undercover situations, and when you are entitled to an attorney. These sessions are particularly effective at reaching youth, who are more engaged by the approach than by the usual lecture-style programs.
