The WashU BLSA alumni network has provided tremendous help to current BLSA members in their academic success as well as in opening doors for job opportunities. It is crucial that law students reach out to alum early and throughout their law school journey. NBLSA National Convention March 2017:

This year’s convention will take place in Houston, Texas and is a great opportunity to meet fellow BLSA members around the country as well as expand your professional network! This event is only open to dues-paying members. Check back later for more information on registration costs and deadlines.

Job Fairs:

Each year, there are many job fairs specifically intended for minority law students. BLSA dues-paying members enjoy the benefits of participating in NBLSA regional job fairs organized throughout the country. The Cook County Bar Association Job Fair is very popular and most 2L and 3L WashU BLSA members are eligible to register. WashU BLSA members are also encouraged to participate in the St. Louis Diversity Job Fair taking place in the Spring semester for 1Ls and early August for 2Ls and 3Ls. Please be on the lookout for more information at the beginning and end of the Spring semester.

Diversity & Inclusion Scholarships / Women’s Initiatives:

Most law firms acknowledge the importance of hiring and retaining diverse professionals. Therefore, they often provide substantial scholarships to law students each year. If you have an interest in a firm, make sure to check out their diversity tab and look for possible scholarship applications.
