Dean Syverud to Serve as Chancellor and President of Syracuse University, effective January 2014
After nearly nine years at Washington University, Dean Kent Syverud will assume the role of Chancellor and President of Syracuse University, effective January 2014. Over the next four months, he will continue to lead Washington University School of Law and to assist in the transition process for the new leadership here.

Dean Kent Syverud of our School of Law was announced this morning as the next Chancellor of Syracuse University. Kent already has established himself as one of the most outstanding leaders in higher education, and we have been fortunate to have the benefit of his leadership to strengthen the quality and impact of our School of Law. He also has done much to advance the mission of our entire university. Kent has my admiration and appreciation for his outstanding contributions here, and he has my hearty congratulations on his selection to lead Syracuse University. Kent will be departing Washington University to take up his new post in January. Provost Holden Thorp will be coordinating a process to identify Kent's successor, and information about that process will be made available soon.
