CSO Hosts Annual Government and Public Interest Job Fair
The law school’s Career Services Office (CSO) recently hosted its annual Government and Public Interest Job Fair in the Crowder Courtyard, bringing nearly 30 employers to campus.
“In today’s market, students know that a legal education opens doors to many opportunities beyond traditional law-firm positions,” said Carol Vizzier, director of Public Interest Programs. “Jobs in the government and public sectors are especially competitive, because they can offer great personal satisfaction and substantive legal work early in a lawyer’s career.”
The Government and Public Interest Job Fair is one of several large job fairs the CSO brings to campus each year, including Corporate Counsel Day, Small Firm Day, Women’s Law Day, and the Employer Showcase. These large events, together with about 70 other smaller events throughout the year, will bring more than 475 professionals from at least 30 cities representing 100 employers to the law school this academic year.
In addition to job fairs, small group discussions, individualized counseling, and mock interviews, the CSO also offers the Becker Project, a network of more than 3,000 professionals, many of them Washington University law alumni. More than 4,000 students have made valuable connections through the Becker Project in the last two years.
Most importantly, the CSO partners with students to help them chart an individualized career path based on their strengths and career preferences.
