Prof. Clark Appointed to D.C. Bar Committee

Kathleen Clark, the John S. Lehmann Research Professor for 2012–13, has been named to the District of Columbia Bar Association’s Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee.

The committee regularly reviews the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct for possible revisions and amendments and makes recommendations for revisions to the bar association’s Board of Governors.

Clark is an expert on the ethics standards that apply to lawyers, current and former government officials, and government contractors. She has published op-eds about conflicts of interest in the Washington Post and National Law Journal, and has been quoted in numerous news stories about government and legal ethics issues.

In late 2012, Clark helped to facilitate a workshop on legal ethics for Russian law students and made a presentation on the law of whistleblowing to a Labor Ministry roundtable in Moscow. She has also led ethics workshops in Nigeria, Venezuela, Japan, Poland and Australia. Closer to home, Clark recently wrote an ethics manual for the District of Columbia’s 32,000 employees.
