Crimes Against Humanity Initiative Research Fellows Named
Six Cash Nickerson Fellows have been appointed for the law school's Crimes Against Humanity Initiative. The fellows will perform research on the commission of atrocities between 1900 and 2009 and will work on both the initiative's draft convention and a book during the documentation process.
The research fellows are third-year law students Margaret Wichmann, Sarah Placzek, Kathryn Minton, and McCall Carter and recent undergraduate Stephanie Anne Nickerson, BA '09. Third-year law student Erika Detjen (not pictured) also has been named a fellow.
The law school's Whitney R. Harris World Law Institute is conducting a two-year project to study the international law regarding crimes against humanity and to draft a multilateral treaty condemning and prohibiting such crimes. Leila Nadya Sadat, the Henry H. Oberschelp Professor of Law and Harris Institute director, is overseeing the project. The endeavor has been made possible by a generous grant from Steven Cash Nickerson and the United States Institute of Peace. B. Don Taylor III, Cash Nickerson Fellow and Harris Institute executive director, also will be working closely with the research fellows.
