Professor Charles R. McManis
Professor McManis is the Thomas and Karole Green Professor of Law, Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Program and Co-Director of the Center on Law, Innovation & Economic Growth.
A noted international expert on Intellectual Property, Charles McManis discusses a seminar (above) on Biodiversity, Biotechnology & the Protection of Knowledge with Taeman Kim, IP/TL LL.M.’02, J.S.D.’03, Korea, and Zhenya Wang, IP/TL LL.M.’03, J.D.’05, People’s Republic of China. He has taught and/or conducted research in the United States, China, India, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan and has served as a consultant for the World Intellectual Property Organization. He is the co-author of the book, Licensing IntellectualProperty in the Digital Age, and author of the book, Intellectual Property&Unfair Competition in a Nutshell.
David Deal
David Deal was Administrative Director of the Intellectual Property and Nonprofit Organizations Clinic; Acting Associate Director of the Center on Law, Innovation & Economic Growth and Lecturer in Law.
Professor Deal was a patent attorney with Thompson Coburn. Prior to his position at that firm, he served as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. David is a 1995 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, as well as a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Engineering. In addition to his teaching responsibilities in the Clinic, David serves as Acting Associate Director of the Center on Law, Innovation & Economic Growth.
Peter Ruger
Throughout his career, Peter H. Ruger has served non-profit organizations, both as a board member and as counsel, often on a pro-bono basis. His expertise is recognized and enhanced by his teaching in this field at the region’s leading universities. Currently, he is a faculty member at the law schools of Saint Louis and Washington Universities. At both law schools, he teaches the law of non-profit organizations. In addition, at Washington University, he works with law clinic students providing legal assistance to area non-profits. Peter’s representation of non-profit organizations has included serving as counsel to many colleges and universities.
He is a former board member and president of the National Association of College and University Attorneys. Peter earned his B.A. from Denison University, his M.A. in history from Washington University, and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law.
