International Humanitarian Law Teaching Project
Founded in 2001, the International Humanitarian Law Teaching Project is a one-of-a-kind cooperative program with the St. Louis Chapter of the American Red Cross. Through this program, Red Cross officials train law students to teach international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, in area high school classrooms. After training, law students facilitate classroom discussions about topics such as current conflict zones, the lives of refugees, and landmines. Over 50 students participate in the program each year. Over eight local high schools take advantage of this program, which is intended to promote student activism and awareness of these issues.
