Judge Jianli Song was appointed to the Supreme Court of China in 2000. After receiving his LLB at Shan Dong Institute of Law and Political Science he practiced as a law clerk for three years in the District Court in Shan Dong province. Song received LLM degrees at Wuhan University in China and the Southampton Solent University in the United Kingdom. 2005-2006 has been spent doing research, with six months as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge at the Lauterpacht Research Center for International Law focusing on independent judiciary and fundamental rights. He is currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania doing research on international commercial arbitration.
