Profile

Director of Technical Services Wei Luo oversees the operations of the Technical Services Division of the Law Library (including acquisitions, cataloging, serials) and provides reference services and assistance with a focus on China and other Asian countries.  An attorney in the People’s Republic of China, Luo earned Chinese and American law degrees and is a Lecturer in Law for the school, teaching legal research in U.S. law to foreign LL.M. students. In addition to his library and teaching duties, he is a prolific writer of books and articles with at least a dozen books on Chinese law published in English and Chinese.  He also created and maintains the Internet Chinese Legal Research Center--a website devoted to Chinese legal research and resources encompassing Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong--and is the recipient of six research grants from the U.S.-China Legal Cooperation Fund. Prior to joining the Law Library, Wei Luo served as Assistant Professor and Assistant Technical Services Librarian at the Southern Illinois University School of Law Library and an Instructor at Xiamen University School of Law in Xiamen, P.R.C.  He also practiced as an attorney in Xiamen working as a legal consultant to local trading companies and several Chinese-foreign joint ventures.
