William C. Jones

Professor Jones has worked in the area of Chinese and comparative law for more than 35 years. His translation of the Great Qing Code was recently published by Oxford University Press. He is also the author of Basic Principles of Civil Law in China, Sharpe (1989). Professor Jones has been a lecturer for the International Association for Teaching Comparative Law, a visiting professor at the University of Freiburg at Bresigau and National Taiwan University, and a visiting research scholar at Tokyo University. In addition, he was at the Institute of Developing Economies in Tokyo, and he was a Fulbright Lecturer at Wu Han University in China. Professor Jones has also done collaborative research with individuals from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. His other publications include "Sources of Chinese Obligation Law," Law and Contemporary Problems (1989), and "Some Questions Regarding the Significance of the General Provisions of Civil Law of the People's Republic of China," Harvard International Law Journal (1987). He delivered the Ritholz lecture at Harvard University in 1999.
