Profile
Professor Cheryl Block’s expertise lies in the areas of basic federal income and corporate tax, federal tax policy, federal budget, and bailouts. The author of a book on corporate taxation, now in its fourth edition, she has written extensively on taxation, public policy relating to federal bailouts, legislative voting rules, social choice theory, and the interplay between tax and budget policy. She previously taught at George Washington University Law School, where she received a Distinguished Faculty Service Award, as well as at several other law schools. Professor Block lectures in numerous states on taxation for the Barbri bar exam preparation course. She has a long-standing interest in adult and early childhood literacy. She was a co-founding director of the Literacy Volunteers of America, National Capital Area, and reads on a weekly basis in St. Louis to at-risk pre-school age children through the Ready Readers program. Upon graduation from law school, she clerked for the Hon. Kevin Thomas Duffy, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, before joining the tax department of Lord, Day & Lord, a New York City law firm.
