Vincent A. Banks III
Since becoming licensed in 1999, Prof. Banks has honed his skills as a litigator trying 13 jury trials (9 solo or lead counsel) to verdict, in St. Louis City and County Circuits, involving wrongful death, product liability, medical malpractice and personal injury. Some of his opponents have been Ford, Burger King, Dillard’s, Otis Elevator and Pizza Hut. He second chaired a $7.75 million dollar verdict in a pedestrian crossing case against Bi-State. His experience is rounded out by over fifteen (15) years of corporate work negotiating aerospace contracts for products and services offered by LTV Aerospace and Defense, IBM and Boeing. He has also worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to US Congressman John Conyers, the Office of Privacy and Information Appeals within the US Department of Justice and the Legal Enforcement Water Division of the Environmental Protection Agency. His teaching experience includes performance as an internal IBM instructor and teacher in the paralegal program at Sanford Brown College. Prof. Banks is a St. Louis native and graduate of St. Louis University High, Boston University (BA, 1978), Webster University (MA, 1984) and St. Louis University (JD, 1999) and a Member of the Missouri Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Mound City Bar, the American Bar Association and National Bar Association.

Bevy Beimdiek
Bevy Beimdiek graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1983 and then attended St. Louis University Law School. Upon graduation from law school, she began working for the Missouri State Public Defender in 1987. She has worked as a public defender, defending indigent people charged with crimes for more than 20 years. She worked for the Special Public Defenders Office as an Assistant Public Defender from 1987 until 1998. During that time she tried cases ranging from juvenile offenses to murder. She served as director of that office from 1992 until 1998. In 1998 she transferred to the Capital Litigation Unit of the Public Defender office where she specializes in trying murder cases in which the prosecutor is seeking the death penalty. She travels throughout Missouri defending people who are facing the death penalty. In 1992, she was recognized as the Defender of Distinction by the Missouri State Public Defender. In 2002, she received the Equal Access to Justice Award from Washington University School of Law. In 2005, she received the Women’s Justice Award from the St. Louis Daily Record. She teaches Trial Practice as an adjunct professor at Washington University Law.
Jonathan Berns
Jonathan Berns is a partner at the law firm of Weinhaus, Dobson, Goldberg & Moreland where he has practiced for 12 years. Throughout his career, he has primarily devoted his practice to the representation of individuals in employment and civil rights cases. He graduated from Cornell University, cum laude, in 1990 and from Washington University School of Law in 1993. At the law school, he was an Associate Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly. He has served as the Chairman of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and is currently the Vice President of the St. Louis Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Kathleen Bilderback
Kathleen graduated from St. Louis University with degrees in Accounting and Theatre. She received her law degree and LL.M. in Taxation from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. She is the recipient of the 1996 Gary I. Boren Memorial Award for attaining the highest overall grade point average in the LL.M. program. Kathleen currently serves as Executive Director-Advanced Underwriting for GenAmerica Financial. In that capacity, she engages in the design of wealth transfer plans, business plans and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangement. She also manages field training and development on behalf of GenAmerica. Prior to joining GenAmerica in 1996, she was in private practice with a firm in St. Louis County. While in private practice, her areas of concentration were Estate Planning and Administration, Corporate Law and Corporate Litigation. She is a member of the Missouri and Illinois bars as well as an active member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. She served as volunteer Legal Chair for the Junior League of St. Louis and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Charitable Foundation.
Thomas M. Blumenthal
Tom Blumenthal is a principal in the law firm of Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal, P.C. He was formerly a Clinical Law Teacher at the Law School from 1979 through 1983, where he participated with Professor Tokarz in developing the Pretrial Practice and Procedure course. He was a Reginald Heber Smith Community Lawyer Fellow from Howard University from 1976-1978. Since leaving the Law School faculty in 1983, Professor Blumenthal has been in private practice, concentrating in the areas of civil and constitutional litigation and alternate dispute resolution. He has been arbitrating and mediating cases since 1995. He is on the Arbitration and Mediation Panels of the American Arbitration Association, the Arbitration Panel of USA&M, and various court mediator listings, and frequently teaches AAA and AAM courses in Mediation and lectures at national AAA Neutrals Conferences on Best Practices in Complex Arbitration. His mediation training is from the international training center of CDR Associates in Boulder, Colorado. His arbitrator training is from AAA. He has written practice books on post-trial and appellate practice for the Missouri Practice Series, and has litigated and arbitrated cases across the country, including litigating before the U.S. Supreme Court. Charles Bobinette
Professor Bobinette has taught at the School of Law for over twenty years, providing clinical instruction in the areas of trial tactics, civil procedure and the rules of evidence. After serving as a Judge in the St. Louis Circuit Court from 1977-1981, Professor Bobinette joined the law firm Uthoff, Graeber, Boninette & Blanke as a partner. His work is focused on the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, and business and employment litigation. His publications include "Specialized Losses: Visual Disabilities, Loss of Teeth and Hearing Disabilities," Missouri Workers' Compensation Law. Thomas Boman
Thomas Boman is the Vice President of Finance for Advantage Capital Partners, a venture capital firm with offices in St. Louis, New Orleans, New York and Tampa. He is responsible for tax-efficient structuring of portfolio investments, consultation with investors and portfolio companies regarding tax reporting issues, strategic financial planning and tax reporting for the Advantage affiliates. Prior to joining Advantage Capital, he was a senior manager with the St. Louis office of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he provided tax consulting services to a variety of companies, focusing primarily on partnerships. Mr. Boman is active in the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, where he is a member of the Tax Committee and past chair of the Small Business Committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Bar Association. He is a former member of the Partnership Tax Committee of the AICPA. He received both his Juris Doctor and Masters in Business Taxation degrees from the University of Minnesota and his B.A. degree from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Lawrence Brody
Lawrence Brody is a partner in the St. Louis-based national and international law firm of Bryan Cave LLP, where he is a member of the Trusts and Estates/Private Client and the Privately Held Business Service Groups. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School), Washington University School of Law, and New York University School of Law, and holds both a J.D. and an LL.M. in Taxation. Mr. Brody is a member of the Missouri, St. Louis, and American Bar Associations, and of the Estate and Gift Tax Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. He is the former chairman of the Committee on Life Insurance of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law. Michael Burton
Mike Burton is an Associate Circuit Judge for St. Louis County. Before becoming a judge he served as a Public Defender and then as Trial Attorney and then Partner with the firm of Margulis, Grant, Burton & Margulis, P.C. (formerly Margulis and Grant, P.C.), where he focused primarily on criminal defense and family law. Judge Burton also has extensive teaching experience, having served as an Adjunct Professor in the St. Louis University School of Law Trial Practice program since 1992, and in our own Trial Practice program since 1997. He received his B.A. in 1982 from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. in 1985 from Washington University School of Law. He co-teaches Advanced Practical Criminal Procedure with Judge Jack Garvey and Judge Thea Sherry.
