This page is for new announcements: Old announcements will be archived here.

November 26, 2007

As previously emailed to you, for tomorrow, we'll be talking about Section 5, the Voting Rights Act, and felon disenfranchisement.  The reading is one long decision, Hayden v. Pataki, en banc: here.

November 16, 2007

For Tuesday, we'll begin looking at felons and voting.  Please read:  Michael Goldhaber, The Felon Vote, Nat'l Law Journal (Oct. 24, 2000); Richardson v. Ramirez (U.S. 1974), pp. 433-441; Hunter v. Underwood (U.S. 1985), pp. 441; and Pam Karlan, Convictions and Doubts: Retribution, Representation, and the Debate over Felon Disenfranchisement, 56 Stan. L. Rev. 1147 (2004).  The reading not in your casebook is in your supplemental packet.

FYI, here is a copy of the exam I gave in this class in 2006.
