MessageScreen is the School of Law’s new email anti-spam and content filtering system. MessageScreen scans all email coming into the Law School. When it identifies a message as UCE/Spam or Explicit Content it may quarantine the message for further evaluation. MessageScreen allows you to view and manage your own quarantined messages via the User Quarantine. A sample User Quarantine is shown below; the appearance of your own quarantine may differ depending upon the User Quarantine permissions assigned to you.

Instructions:
  1.        Go to: http://messagescreen.law.wustl.edu/user/ and proceed to Step 2.

  2.        Log in using your full email address (e.g., user@wulaw.wustl.edu) and your GroupWise password and click ‘Login’.

  3.        Click Inbound Email or Outbound Email Take a moment to look over the messages in the list. It may be easiest to verify that everything visible is a Spam message, and then single out exceptions that are not.

  4.        If a message is Spam, delete it (remove it from the Quarantine) by clicking the Delete icon .  The message row will turn red.
If all messages shown are in fact Spam, mark them for deletion by clicking the Delete icon  next to "All" in the Senders column at the top or bottom of the list. All message rows will turn red.

To delete a message and add its sender to the Blocked Senders List, click the Delete and Block Sender icon . The message row will turn orange.

  5.        If a message is NOT Spam, release it for delivery (to your inbox) by clicking the Release icon .  The message row will turn green. It’s also possible to Release and Trust Sender , which will both release the message and add the sender to the Trusted Senders list. Messages from this sender will not be quarantined again.

  6.        To view message content, click the View icon . A view window will pop up.

  7.        To forward the message, click the Forward icon . A forward window will pop up. The message will be forwarded to the specified recipient, but remains in the Quarantine until deleted or released.

  8.        When all messages have been highlighted as desired, click the ‘Commit’ button at the top or bottom of the screen to process all the messages.

2.       Click ‘Forward’.

4.       Paste the Internet headers into the top of the body of the message. Send the message to IntelliReach and delete the message from your inbox.

User Email Alias Support

Users with multiple email aliases can access all quarantined mail with a single login and password. Once configured by a MessageScreen Administrator, the user’s primary email address or any alias address can be used to log into the User Quarantine to view or process quarantined mail.

Use MessageScreen Online Help

Information about topics discussed in this document, as well as other useful information, can be found in the MessageScreen Online Help.

To access the online help, click the ‘Help’ link on the left of the screen in the User Quarantine.

Get a Spam Summary Email

The Quarantine Summary Email feature allows MessageScreen to send a summary email to users, containing a list of email quarantined since the last summary. If no new email has been quarantined, no quarantine summary email is sent.

The Quarantine Summary Email controls shown below are accessed under User Settings. If permission is given by a MessageScreen Administrator, you can:

·         Opt out of receiving these emails

·         Manage your own Quarantine Summary Email schedule

If no user control is allowed, then only the Quarantine Summary Email schedule set by the Administrator will appear. If no Quarantine Summary Email controls appear, then the feature is not enabled within your organization and no Quarantine Summary Emails will be sent.
