Special Needs Seating and Access

The university provides designated parking areas for those who are mobility-impaired across campus on Commencement day. However, because of the tremendous demand on university Parking Services’ resources, neither the university nor the Law School can meet individual requests from those with special parking needs.

The university does provide limited golf cart service from designated handicapped parking areas like the Snow Way Garage that day. While it is not possible to dedicate golf carts to individual schools, including the Law School, golf carts will be available to transport individuals to Brookings Quadrangle and to a University stop if they wish to travel to the main ceremony. As there will a large number of guests leaving the University ceremony, it is recommended for families of those with special needs to provide their own transportation on Commencement day. If you need a wheelchair for your guest, you are encouraged to contact the Medical West Healthcare Center at (314) 725-1888 to make arrangements. Read more...

Special Needs Parking
There are two options for accommodating special needs accessibility to the ceremony:

Option one: Before parking you may drop off guests with special needs in the circle off Snow Way outside the first floor of Anheuser-Busch Hall. Guests can then travel by elevator to the third floor, which provides access to the Danforth Campus and the Brookings Quadrangle. Please note that someone must stay with the vehicle at all times. After dropping-off guests, the vehicle must be relocated quickly to long-term parking. The closest handicapped parking for the law school will be the top level of Snow Way Garage, located just west of Anheuser-Busch Hall, where a staff member will be available to assist you.

Option two: Vehicles transporting mobility-impaired guests may use the driveway south of Brookings Hall to drop off their passengers. Elevators adjacent to this lot in South Brookings Hall provide access to the Quadrangle. Since disabled parking is limited near the Quadrangle, drivers may be asked to park their vehicles in a general parking area after dropping off their passengers.

Special Needs Seating

Reserved, special needs seating will be available at Athletics Complex, Varsity Gym, (i.e. wheel chair, hearing impaired). Only the person requiring special seating and a companion will be allowed to sit in the special needs section. Due to the requirements for special seating, we are not able to accommodate complete family groups.

An American Sign Language interpreter will be present during both the University and Law School Commencement ceremonies.
