2008 Law Commencement

Washington University Law salutes its graduates and their families attending the Commencement Ceremonies on May 16, 2008. Some 244 J.D.s, 59 LL.M.s, and two J.S.D.s made up the May 2008 list of graduates.

The festivities began with a class photo outside the Olin Library, followed by Washington University’s ceremony in the Brookings Quadrangle. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews delivered the Commencement Address at the University ceremony. All August 2007, December 2007, May 2008, August 2008, and December 2008 law graduates were invited to participate in both the University and law school ceremonies.

The law school processional began Washington University Law's ceremony, which was held under the tent at Seeley G. Mudd Field.  At the law school ceremony, Kent D. Syverud, dean and the Ethan A.H. Shepley University Professor, welcomed attendees and delivered remarks to the graduates; University Trustee and National Council Member David W. Detjen, A.B.’70, J.D.’73, offered the Welcome to the Legal Profession; and J.D. candidate Todd Richheimer was the Voice of the Class of 2008.  A reception followed in Anheuser-Busch Hall.
