Memorial Tribute for Jack R. Barsanti
Alumnus Jack R. Barsanti, BS '49, JD ’52, passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 82. Mr. Barsanti served the law school and Washington University in many capacities, and was active most recently as President of the Buder Foundation board and of the St. Louis Bar Foundation board. He received the law school's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2004.
Visitation is scheduled on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at Bopp Memorial Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road in Kirkwood. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 11 at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood. The law school community is encouraged to attend.
Mr. Barsanti earned his law degree in 1952 from Washington University, where he also earned an engineering degree in 1949. At the University, he was President of the Alumni Association and a member of the Board of Trustees. An attorney and business executive since 1952, Mr. Barsanti served both in private practice and as a corporate lawyer specializing in corporate, tax, international, and environmental law. He was a 50-year active member and past President of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, as well as a member of the Missouri and American Bar Associations and President of the St. Louis Bar Foundation. He was an early advocate of environmental issues and served as Chairman of the Missouri Air Conservation Commission and an adviser to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Among his involvement in numerous civic organizations, he was a key leader in the development of the St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership and a member of the Missouri Air Law Advisory Group.
