Joseph D. Lehrer

Joseph D. Lehrer, AB '70, JD '73, is the chairman of the Corporate Practice Group of Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale PC and formerly served as a member of the board of directors and president of this St. Louis-based firm.
In his 30 years of practice, Lehrer has represented numerous clients in merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions and in regard to venture capital and private financing transactions. His clients include large privately held companies and small- to medium-sized publicly held companies. He also represents substantial closely held corporations in regard to financial and tax structure, general business law matters, and strategic planning issues. Lehrer has served on a number of statutory boards of directors and advisory boards on behalf of private and publicly traded companies.
At the School of Law, Lehrer teaches Business Acquisitionsas an adjunct professor; serves as a member of the National Council; and chairs the Public Interest Summer Stipend Program. His service to the community includes serving as a member of the board for Jazz at the Bistro and former president of the Progressive Youth Center.
Lehrer is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, including the Business Law Steering Committee; the Missouri Bar; the Illinois Bar; and the American Bar Association, including the Taxation and Business Law Sections.
He and his wife, Sandy, who is president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro St. Louis, have a daughter, Rachel, a junior at the University of Colorado.
