John R. Barsanti, Jr., BSIE '49, JD '52 is nationally recognized for his expertise in business transactions and air environmental matters, and of counsel and former partner at the St. Louis firm of Armstrong Teasdale LLP. He is chairman of the International Tax Practice Group of Lex Mundi, an international group of which Armstrong Teasdale is a member.
Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Barsanti was general counsel and president of Kellwood Company in St. Louis and a partner at the St. Louis-based firm of Husch Eppenberger. A former president of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Barsanti is an active member of the Missouri Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He formerly served as one of seven ABA representatives to a joint commission with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
At Washington University, he served on the Board of Trustees from 1978 to 1990. He was chairman of the Annual Fund Campaign and the Alumni Federation, the predecessor to today's Alumni Board of Governors; founding member and first president of the Washington University Alumni Club; and co-chair of numerous reunions.
Barsanti's community service includes leadership positions with MissouriGoodwill Industries, St. Andrews Resource for Seniors, Lakeside Center, St. Louis Angel Network, Kirkwood Board of Education, and United Way. He also served as an adviser to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on the development of the state's air laws and regulations, and as vice chair of the Missouri Air Conservation Commission.
He and his wife, Nancy Lee, have four children, Lisa, William, Lori, and Lucy and seven grandchildren.
