Clinton Global Initiative University

Washington University students are invited to the kickoff event for Washington University’s hosting of the Sixth Annual Clinton Global Initiative University. Faces of Hope celebrates the 118 Commitments to Action for the April 5-7, 2013, Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU). CGIU will bring to campus nearly 1,200 students to work on projects to address global issues; the projects include those by two teams of law school students. Vice Dean Andrew D. Martin will be installed as the Charles Nagel Chair of Constitutional Law and Political Science. Martin, who is currently a professor of law and of political science, is the founding director of the law school’s Center for Empirical Research in the Law and is a principal of the analytics consultancy firm, Principia Empirica LLC. Tyrrell Williams Lecture: Stephen H. Legomsky

Stephen H. Legomsky is an expert in U.S., comparative, and international immigration and refugee law and policy. Currently on leave from the faculty, he has been serving as chief counsel for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) since fall 2011. In his role at USCIS, he is serving as the principal legal advisor to the agency that will be charged with implementing the central components of proposed new comprehensive immigration legislation. He will be speaking on “Immigration and the Role of the Government Attorney.” [more]
