WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY CEREMONY
The university provides designated parking areas for those who are mobility-impaired across campus on Commencement day. However, because of the tremendous demand on university Parking Services’ resources, neither the university nor the Law School can meet individual requests from those with special parking needs.
The university does provide limited golf cart service from designated handicapped parking areas like the Snow Way Garage that day. While it is not possible to dedicate golf carts to individual schools, including the Law School, golf carts will be available to transport individuals to Brookings Quadrangle and to a University stop if they wish to travel to the main ceremony. As there will a large number of guests leaving the University ceremony, it is recommended for families of those with special needs to provide their own transportation on Commencement day. If you need a wheelchair for your guest, you are encouraged to contact the Medical West Healthcare Center at (314) 725-1888 to make arrangements. LAW RECOGNITION CEREMONY
Special Needs Parking
Before parking you may drop off guests with special needs in the circle off Snow Way outside the first floor of Anheuser-Busch Hall. Guests can then travel by elevator to the third floor, which provides access to the Danforth Campus and the Brookings Quadrangle. Please note that someone must stay with the vehicle at all times. After dropping-off guests, the vehicle must be relocated quickly to long-term parking. The closest handicapped parking for the law school will be the top level of Snow Way Garage, located just west of Anheuser-Busch Hall, where a staff member will be available to assist you.
Special Needs Seating
Reserved, special needs seating will be available at Athletics Complex, Varsity Gym, (i.e. wheel chair, hearing impaired). Only the person requiring special seating and a companion will be allowed to sit in the special needs section. Due to the requirements for special seating, we are not able to accommodate complete family groups.
An American Sign Language interpreter will be present during both the University and Law School Commencement ceremonies.
Planning Your Visit
Parking and Transportation
Parking will be limited on the Danforth Campus during the commencement ceremonies. Please take this into consideration when you are making your plans for the day.
Parking is always difficult around Commencement. Visitors may park in any area of the university parking lots and garages except for those designated as accessible parking or loading zones. Because of a limited amount of parking, visitors are encouraged to take shuttles from your hotel or use public transportation.
Additional overflow parking with shuttle service will be available in two parking lots next to The Muny in Forest Park. Shuttle bus loading zones will be designated in each lot. The route will run between the Muny and Mallinckrodt Center every 20 minutes from 6:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. See map.
We recommend guests arrive early before the ceremony to allow adequate travel time from campus parking areas to Brookings Quadrangle. Campus parking is available, but parking is always very crowded on Commencement day. We encourage guests to consider alternate ways to get to campus.
