Law School Co-Sponsors American Indian Awareness Week

The 11th annual American Indian Awareness Week will begin on April 9, 2001, and culminate on April 14 with a Pow-Wow held outdoors in the stadium (weather permitting).

Sponsored by the George Warren Brown School of Social Work and the Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies, the week and Pow-Wow educate the Washington University community about American Indians and allows the American Indian community to share their culture through traditional dancing, singing, drumming, food, and the arts. This year the School of Law is also serving as a co-sponsor.

Kevin Gover, J.D., the current head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, will serve as the keynote speaker this year. There will also be events throughout the week such as food-tasting and a movie.

Additional information will be made available as plans are finalized. You can read about last year's events at http://gwbweb.wustl.edu/Users/Buder/bcais.html.
