The Law Library is a major academic research facility with over 675,000 volumes and access to a rich collection of online databases. The Library acquires both primary and secondary source materials basic to the needs of students, scholars and practicing attorneys.
The collection includes state and federal statutes, court reports, administrative rules, state and federal court digests, periodical indexes, major legal encyclopedias and looseleaf services. Supporting these materials is an extensive collection of legal treatises, scholarly monographs, U.S. government documents, and subscriptions to legal journals.
Our strengths include American, British, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, and international law. We hold primary materials for the United States, all its states and territories, and selected foreign jurisdictions. Our collection of secondary source materials encompasses works on law and law-related topics from all over the world. Most material held by the library is in English. We also hold materials in a variety of languages including Italian, Spanish, French, Latin, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, and Russian.
The Law Library has one of the premier collections of contemporary Chinese and Japanese law. Our collection includes all volumes of the major Chinese and Japanese case reporters, statute compilations, a subscription to Chinalawinfo, the most comprehensive Chinese legal website, and a subscription to E-Japanese Law, one of the most comprehensive Japanese statutes and case law products published on the web. The library also subscribes to all major Chinese and Japanese law journals. Our subscriptions also include English translations of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean statutes.
Law Library materials are available in a variety of formats including paper (books, journals, loose-leaf services), microfilm and microfiche, Electronic (e.g., CD-ROM, Web-based databases) audiotape, videotape and DVD.
