Post-Race? Interrogations, Provocations & Disruptions Lecture Series

When Barack Obama successfully ran for office in 2008, a number of news outlets began asserting that we now live in a "post-race" America. This claim had been explored for some time by scholars who have argued that we are undergoing transformations in group identity and activism in the United States even as numerous other signs indicate that we live in an increasingly racially stratified society. This lectures series invites intellectuals who have interrogated and disrupted common sense narratives about race (particularly discussions of blackness) in U.S. culture. The provocations these speakers offer are at the cutting edge of conversations about race today.
