Professor of Practice Ann Davis Shields specializes in legal practice, negotiation, pretrial practice, appellate advocacy, and employment law. In addition to her teaching, she serves as the director of the Pretrial Practice & Settlement Program.. She previously was the faculty advisor for the 1L Negotiation and Client Counseling Competitions  and was co-advisor for the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Team. A presenter and lecturer at legal writing workshops and conferences nationally, she also is a bar review exam lecturer. Professor Shields is admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois and is a qualified mediator. Before joining the faculty, she practiced law at Bryan Cave LLP, specializing in employment and labor law.
