Initial Class Assignments
Following is a list of materials assigned for the noted course.

First Class Assignment

Read the first case (Pennoyer v. Neff, 95 U.S. 714 (1877)) and consider the following problem for the 1st day:

Allen Appleby bought a large quantity of German beer mugs for a Colorado ski lodge that he owns. Unfortunately, he did not pay when the bill was due and thus owes a considerable amount of money to the Bernard Boener, the seller in Munich. Appleby travels a lot. His legal residence is St. Louis but he is rarely here. His principal assets are in Colorado where, in addition to the lodge, he also has a large ranch. He also has a condo in a coastal resort town on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Boener asks for you advice as to where he might bring suit to collect the debt.
