Co-Director - Charles R. McManis, Thomas and Karole Green Professor of Law
A noted international expert on Intellectual Property,Charles McManis discusses a seminar (above) on Biodiversity, Biotechnology & the Protection of Knowledge with Taeman Kim, IP/TL LL.M.’02, J.S.D.’03, Korea, and Zhenya Wang, IP/TL LL.M.’03, J.D.’05, People’s Republic of China. He has taught and/or conducted research in the United States, China, India, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan and has served as a consultant for the World Intellectual Property Organization. He is the co-author of the book, Licensing IntellectualProperty in the Digital Age, and author of the book, IntellectualProperty &Unfair Competition in a Nutshell.
Co-Director - Gerrit De Geest, Professor of Law
Gerrit De Geest specializes in comparative law and in law and economics. Past president of the European Association of Law and Economics, he is a member of the Economic Impact Group of the Common Principles of European Contract Law. He is co-editor of the Review of Law and Economics and consultant editor of the European Review of Contract Law. He has published numerous books and articles in the fields of economic analysis of contract law, tort law, and comparative law.
Acting Associate Director - David Deal, Lecturer in Law
David Deal (who is also Administrative Director of the associated Intellectual Property & Nonprofit Organizations Clinic) was, until recently, a patent attorney with Thompson Coburn. Prior to his position at that firm, he served as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. David is a 1995 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, as well as a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Engineering. In addition to his teaching responsibilities in the Clinic, David serves as Acting Associate Director of the Center for Law, Innovation & Economic Growth.
