JD Admissions Information
For admission as a J.D. candidate, you must have received a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited college or university. You also must have demonstrated your capacity for the study of law by a competent undergraduate record and superior performance on the Law School Admission Test.
First-year students are admitted for full-time study in the fall only. The School of Law has no program for part-time or evening study. We can make exceptions for students with disabilities and some students providing primary care for their children.
You may submit your application for admission any time after September 15 of the academic year preceding the year in which you plan to enroll. The Admissions Committee makes every effort to inform candidates being considered under the regular application process of its decision by April 15.
Required items to submit:
- the completed application
- a personal statement
- a $70 application fee
- resume
- (at least) 2 letters of recommendation
You must applythrough the LSAC. The above items should also be submitted electronically.
The application fee is non-refundable, and it is not applied to tuition. If you cannot pay the application fee, the financial aid officer of your undergraduate institution must verify that you need a fee waiver because of financial hardship. Send this certification directly to the School of Law Admissions Office.
Reactivation Procedure
If you were not admitted, but want to be reconsidered the next year, you may send a letter or e-mail requesting reactivation of your application. A $70 re-application fee is required and the Admissions Office will request a new LSDAS report from LSAC. You may also submit an entirely new application online. We encourage you to submit additional evidence of academic ability if you decide to be reconsidered for admission.
